The Close By necklace was one of the first pieces of jewelry designed for Lapland by Danish designer Poul Havgaard. Havgaard's silver jewelry was typically very three-dimensional, with flowing lines and a sophisticated satin-like matte finish. The jewelry was often sensual, sometimes unabashedly erotic. There was also always a message hidden in the names of the jewelry. The close-by jewelry was in Lapponia's product range from 1973 to 1979.
